Fluticasone Furoate 27.5 mcg + Oxymetazoline 50 mcg Nasal Spray
Fluticasone Furoate + Oxymetazoline is used to treat perennial allergic rhinitis, an inflammatory condition lasting for an hour or more days in a year. Symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, congestion, stuffy nose, or watery eyes.
Fluticasone Furoate+oxymetazoline is an amalgamation of Fluticasone furoate (corticosteroid) and Oxymetazoline (decongestants). Fluticasone furoate stops the formation of chemicals in the body that could cause inflammatory reactions. Oxymetazoline helps constrict and narrow blood vessels in the linings of nasal passages, helping mitigate allergic rhinitis symptoms.
Fluticasone Furoate + Oxymetazoline is a mixture of two drugs Fluticasone furoate and Oxymetazoline. Fluticasone furoate reduces the release of many chemicals in the body that trigger inflammation. While oxymetazoline contracts blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. Thus it provides mild relief from allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, pain, swelling, blisters, or stiffness.
It is a two-medicine combination. An enzyme cytosolic phospholipase A2 is suppressed by fluticasone furoate that initiates a cascade of reactions and eventually produces inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Blood vessels will cause dilation leading to a form of nasal congestion, oxymetazoline being a decongestant narrows the nasal passage of blood vessels.
This drug is to be applied as per the prescribed dosages and durations. Instructions are also present on the label to follow before application. Place the bottle tip inside one of the nostrils and shut down the other. The side of the nose is to face the nozzle in such a way that it avoids reaching the cartilage separating your two nostrils. It should breathe lightly, with the head straight upwards while doing this. The same is to be followed with another nostril.
Fluticasone Furoate+oxymetazoline is prescribed in the treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis, a condition where the body’s immune system reacts to a foreign substance.
No, Fluticasone Furoate+oxymetazoline is contraindicated in patients who have a recent nose operation or in whom the diagnosis of any infection of the nose exists, as it will result in nose bleeding and extra severe pain of the nose. Such might worsen your condition even further. Consult your doctor and do as advised for better results.

In addition, it should be avoided by individuals with narrow-angle glaucoma or those who have had recent nasal transplant surgery. This product should not be used by children under six years of age.
